Coach Alexis comes to CAC from Raleigh, North
Carolina, where she has enjoyed a successful swimming and coaching
career. All workouts and workout plans are filtered through
Alexis’ expert eye to maintain her desired balance between
technique and training, and avoiding a conflict between quantity
over quality. She believes in the well-rounded athlete and has
prescribed this belief into the ladder of the Stingrays swim
team. Each swimmer has the potential to be successful, and she
feels that coaches should help swimmers discover their pathways to
success and to their goals on a personal and individualized
level. In her four years at CAC, the team has grown from 30
members in 2005 to 250 members in 2009. The team has grown
from 4 state qualifiers and a 30th place finish at State
Championships to 20+ state qualfiers, 14 Sectional qualifiers, 2
Junior National Qualifiers and 2 National/Olympic Trial Level
athletes.
As a coach, she has experienced many levels
and environments. Prior to CAC, Alexis coached at the YMCA of
the Triangle Area in Raleigh, NC, where she had the good fortune of
coaching a National Top-16 athlete and 12 State
qualifiers. While at YOTA, she also coached the Southeast
Raleigh High School Men’s & Women’s team –
bringing half the team to Regional qualification and increasing
men’s participation in swimming almost 100% - a difficult
feat in a state where swimming is a cut sport! For the four
seasons prior to YOTA, Alexis served as Assistant Swim Coach at
N.C. State University, where she specialized in Distance and
Breaststroke training as well as recruiting for the women’s
program. While a Wolfpacker, Alexis coached 3 Olympic Trial
Qualifiers, 5 National Qualifiers and multiple ACC finalists.
During both of these coaching stints, Alexis also coached (and
competed for) the Raleigh Area Masters, resulting in several USMS
National champions and World record holders.
As an athlete, Alexis achieved enough success
to earn a full scholarship to Northwestern University in
swimming. Predominantly a freestyler, she enjoyed top 25
national rankings in the 200m & 400m freestyle as well as
top-100 world ranking in the 800 freestyle. Her coach believed in
the importance of multi-tasking and she did achieve National
standards in butterfly and Individual medleys as well. Her
collegiate athletic career was cut short by injury, but while she
completed her degree in English, she worked with the
university’s Age Group team, Northwestern Aquatic Swimming
Association, and as a result was able to coach several top-16
athletes and State qualifiers. During that time, she also worked
extensively with the Northwestern Women’s Swimming team,
specifically with sprint freestylers and assisting with
recruiting.
Currently, Alexis lives in Denver with her
husband, Kyle Davenport, and her two cats, Lurleen and Chompers and
her large dog, Bear - who occasionally comes to coach
workout. Her favorite color is purple, favorite sports teams
are N.C. State Wolfpack, Carolina Hurricanes & Panthers, and
Minnesota Vikings and her favorite morning beverage is a grande soy
chai!

Head Age Group Coach
Gold, Silver, Bronze, MiniRays
B.A. University of Northern
Colorado
Coach Jenny joins us from Colorado. She was a
State qualifier all four years for Pomona high school and a member
of the Colorado Zone team while swimming for North Jeffco Swim
Team. She then went on to be a four year letter winner at the
University of Northern Colorado where she was a two time NCAA
Division II All-American. She specialized predominantly in the
long distance freestyle events, but was exposed early to a variety
of events before settling on the 1650 and 1000 as her best
events.
She coached for three season at the Rock Creek Flyers in Lafayette
and then went on to coach at her alma mater, Pomona High School
before returning to Denver to pursue a “real” job at
Oppenheimer Funds, where she has worked for the past 8 ½
years. As a coach she likes to create a fun and positive
environment that the athletes enjoy being a part of on a daily
basis. She emphasizes the importance of correct stroke
technique and uses positive feedback coupled with constructive
criticism to help swimmers achieve perfections.
Jenny is an advocate for good sportsmanship
and a healthy sense of competition while aiding in personal and
team success. The coach is responsible for assisting in the
physical, psychological and social development of each athlete;
pushing them to their full potential, creating mental toughness and
building self-confidence. She firmly believes that the skills
and fundamentals learned through training and sport will be
reflected through all aspects of a swimmer’s life and
therefore are extremely important. She is excited to
return to coaching and thrilled to be a part of the Stingray
family.

M. Ed. in progress - University of
Phoenix
I grew up in Northern California where I swam
competitivly for 12 years. During that time I qualified, placed,
and finaled at a national level, qualified for Olympic Trials in
the 50 free twice (1988 & 2000), and was a scholarship
athlete at UC Berkeley. I earned my BS in Exercise Science
from Arizona State University; I have spent the last 8 years
working with athletes and individuals in attaining their goals of
strength conditioning and fitness.
When I am not coaching, I spend my time taking
care of my family: my husband of 14 years, Aaron, my 2 daughters,
Rylee (6) and Reese (4), and our dog, cat, and goldfish!
I like camping, hiking & generally the
outdoors.

Kyler joins our staff as a seasoned lesson instructor with the
Highlands Ranch Park District. He is a current member of our
National team and works hard to instill fun in the midst of solid
work. His strength lies in his ever-changing skill-set - as he
learns more about swimming, so do the kids! He shares his knowledge
of learn-to-swim technique and likes to workout with the kids in
dryland - even breaking his toe in the process!
