To encourage a safer and more
postive training environment, we are instituting a standardized
code of etiquette for our swimmers. This is just a list of those
little things that we have already iterated to swimmers throughout
the year, but we felt, as a staff, that a firm list would help
everyone!
These policies are intended to 1) provide a safe practice for all
swimmers 2) help swimmers understand workout procedures 3)
facilitate a better training and learning workout situation for all
swimmers to improve. These policies are listed in the READ MORE
section of the post with infractions to be handled as follows:
1st infraction in a practice: Verbal Reminder of the rule
2nd infraction of same rule in a practice: 5 pushups
3rd infraction of same rule in a practice: 10 burpees
4th infraction of same rule in a practice: lunge around the
pool
5th infraction of same rule in a practice: out of workout and call
to parents.
Any verbal or physical abuse or inappropriate language either in
practice, at a meet or in the club facility will not be tolerated
and will immediately result in removal from practice/meet and a
call to the parents.
We don't envision having to resort to these measures very often,
as our kids are pretty darn good at listening, but we do want a
safe environment for our swimmers to swim and learn and become
faster and for our coaches to feel comfortable doling out both
positive and negative feedback as needed to help our swimmers
improve. Please feel free to let me know if you have any comments
or concerns with specific facets of instruction that are not being
addressed within the context of the "new" policies.
